Construction boss George Alex granted bail in $17m tax cheating case

In July 2020, our client was arrested in Queensland and extradited to Sydney to face the following charges:

  • Conspire with intent to dishonestly cause a loss to the Commonwealth, contrary to section 135.4(3) of the Criminal Code 1995; and
  • Conspire to deal with proceeds of crime, money or property worth $1,000,000 or more, contrary to section 400.3(1) of the Criminal Code 1995

Hanna Legal made a successful release application on behalf of our client at the Central Local Court and he granted conditional bail.

In a news article published about the application, senior solicitor Abbas Soukie was quoted as saying:

“After spending more than two weeks in custody, Mr Alex is looking forward to his release and looks forward to the opportunity to clear his name.”
